State-of-the-art machinery equipped with efficient robots

Manufacturing at Prototal, particularly at our site in Malmö, is highly automated, and each injection moulding machine is now equipped with at least one robot, sometimes in combination, handling tasks such as removing, transporting, assembling, inspecting, applying labels, and ultimately packing plastic components. The equipment is customised and programmed individually based on the manufacturing process and customer needs and requirements.

Examples of tasks robots can perform:

  • Automated injection moulding of plastic components
  • Picking plastic components from the injection moulding machine
  • Transporting the components to various processing stations
  • Assembling components
  • Applying adhesive labels
  • Placing in-mould labels in the mold cavity
  • Arranging components in boxes

Good and consistent product quality

There are high-quality requirements for the production of medical products, among others, and to ensure quality during manufacturing, we also use vision systems that collaborate with the robots. An advanced camera scans the plastic component immediately after production at the injection moulding machine, and the computer's preset software compares specific measurement points and areas to ensure that each product is correct. This way, we identify and eliminate any defects in the products, which are automatically removed by the robot when detected. Regardless of the robots' tasks, they always perform the same movement patterns with the same precision 24/7, ensuring high and consistent product quality. To cope with a high degree of automation, our production personnel has high technical competence in programming, commissioning, service, and maintenance.

Safer and cleaner working environment

There are many advantages to automated production, including the elimination of hasardous and monotonous tasks. During production, the finished component usually goes directly into the packaging, which is sealed, meaning the product is not exposed to unnecessary contamination.

Good production economy

Automation also makes tojos competitive in the market, whether producing short or long series. Even though automation is a substantial investment, we at Prototal are convinced that it becomes cost-effective for both the customer and ourselves in the long run. Therefore, we will continue the automation process.
